FANUC America has officially opened its new 650,000-square-foot facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This expansion is part of FANUC’s strategic plan to support and advance industrial automation in North America. The new campus increases FANUC’s total space in Michigan to over 2 million square feet and represents a $110 million investment on 67 acres of land.
Since 2019, FANUC America has created over 400 jobs in Michigan due to industry growth and increased customer demand. The new campus will provide advanced product manufacturing, customized automation systems, and warehouse space for over 6,000 robots and thousands of parts.
“This expansion is part of our growth strategy in the U.S. and our commitment to the future of automation and robotics,” said Mike Cicco, President and CEO of FANUC America. “Our goal is to support our customers with cutting-edge solutions, driving efficiency across all industries.”
FANUC America has invested over $187 million since 2019, which includes a 461,000-square-foot North Campus facility opened in 2019 and new headquarters in Mexico and Canada in 2023. The company plans to continue investing in the renovation of a former law school on the new site, which will become the FANUC Academy, an advanced training center for automation.
“Training is essential to keep manufacturing strong in North America,” added Cicco. “The FANUC Academy will be the largest corporate robotics and industrial automation training facility in the U.S.”
After completing the FANUC Academy and other projects, FANUC America’s total investment in North America will exceed $250 million, solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.
“FANUC’s ongoing investment in our state helps more Michiganders ‘Make It’ in Michigan,” added Quentin Messer, Jr., CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The grand opening of the West Campus included remarks from several state and local dignitaries, highlighting the significance of FANUC’s investment in the region.
FANUC’s robotics and automation systems are used in a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace, agriculture, consumer products, food, pharmaceuticals, and warehousing.
