Rockwell Automation has announced an expanded collaboration with NVIDIA to enhance the development of industrial AI and mobile robots. This partnership will see Rockwell integrating NVIDIA's AI technologies into its autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) to boost their performance and efficiency.
Earlier this year, Rockwell began working with NVIDIA to scale AI applications in manufacturing. Now, this collaboration will extend to robotics, aiming to improve factory efficiencies through the use of advanced AI. The robots, known as OTTO Motors, will benefit from NVIDIA’s Isaac robotics platform, which is designed to enhance AI-driven automation.
“We’re invigorated by this continued collaboration with NVIDIA,” said Ryan Gariepy, CTO, OTTO Motors by Rockwell Automation. “Rockwell's industrial AI expertise, combined with NVIDIA AI and robotics technologies, is going to help drive an exciting new generation of autonomous mobile robots.”
Additionally, Rockwell is integrating NVIDIA's Omniverse Cloud APIs with its Emulate3D software. This will provide users with data interoperability, live collaboration, and realistic graphics for designing and operating digital twins of production systems.
Rockwell's latest “State of Smart Manufacturing Report” indicates that AI is seen as the most impactful feature for future business outcomes. By 2024, 83% of manufacturers are expected to incorporate generative AI into their operations. Through this collaboration, Rockwell aims to offer more resilient, agile, and sustainable solutions for its customers.
