Customer first has become the new mantra for supply chains. But it has never been more difficult for retail supply chains to find that customer. Where are they shopping? What are they looking for? How do we get the product to them?

The answers to those questions have given rise to the omnichannel fulfillment operation. And with more stores acting as fulfillment centers, it is creating new demands on warehouses.

Akash Gupta, co-founder and CEO of warehouse automation firm GreyOrange, joined the Talking Supply Chain podcast to discuss the changes in physical retail, and how that is leading to changes in the warehouse operation.

Not surprisingly, data is playing a big role, leading to more customer transparency, and helping inform on changing customer demands. It is also assisting companies to better position automation to satisfy this growing omnichannel fulfillment operation.
