Global logistics giant Kuehne+Nagel announced the opening of a new facility in El Paso, Texas. The 363,000-square-foot site consolidates four warehouses from across the border into one location. This move aims to support the trend of nearshoring, where companies are shifting production closer to their home markets, particularly in Mexico.
The new facility is designed to handle increased customer demand for moving goods across the U.S.-Mexico border. The warehouse includes enhanced security, modern offices, 54 dock doors, cross-dock capability, 125 truck yard spaces, and added vertical racked storage locations.
The consolidation of four warehouses into one site aims to improve efficiency for Kuehne+Nagel customers by centralizing trailer traffic control. This change is expected to reduce truck processing times with additional dock availability and improve cargo flow and layout. The facility also enhances customer service by housing all customer care teams in one location and providing new meeting rooms.
“This new facility helps us address logistics challenges posed by nearshoring with increased capacity and space for freight,” said John Levin, Regional Vice President for Central Area at Kuehne+Nagel U.S. “It represents a milestone for Kuehne+Nagel in North America, enhancing our warehouse footprint and improving efficiencies.”
The facility will officially open on August 5 and is expected to create around 145 jobs in the region.
